Software Choices

Once you decide to automate your stock trading strategy you will have to make several software choices. These decisions depend on how you want to implement the automation. Whether or not you plan to use a canned application, program your own, or modify an open source application.

 

Software Needed to Program Your Own Bot From Scratch

  • If you are programming in Java then the main software you will need will be either Netbeans or Eclipse, both of which are free.


  • If you are planning to program in any .Net language including: c++,c# or visual basic then you will need to purchase Microsoft Visual Studio Standard 2005 or you can purchase the .Net language you want separately, however it’s a MUCH better deal to just purchase the whole studio: Visual Basic, C++

    JSystemTrader – This is a free open source bot framework programmed in Java. It works with Interactive brokers. Download
